Mooving Art of Shepparton

We have all seen art on building walls, laneways, Silo art (will do a post on this at a later date). Art on cows you say?

Mooving Art to boot? Scattered around the Greater Shepparton area are 3D fiberglass bovines – cows .

I can remember over 4 years ago when living in Shepparton I was taking the new puppy Betty and Sally for a walk around the river. Betty saw this huge 3D cow and stopped and barked at it. It was so funny seeing her barking at a cow that didnt move!

In 1999 Shepparton’s Central Business District marketing program introduced the Merry Moos for Christmas. It was so successful they expanded it and it became Mooving Art!

Mooving Art pays homage to the dairy industry in the Greater Shepparton area. Great way to showcase the dairy industry and art in the region by having painted 3D fiberglass cows scattered in the town and surrounding area’s.

Monash Park has quite a few and some will be on this post. Next trip to Shepparton I will take more of the ones around town and will put them on the Instagram page.

We may not be able to travel far these days however there is so much to see and do in our own backyard.

Shepparton is roughly 2 hours – 175 km’s from Melbourne by car. You can also catch a train from Southern Cross Station to Shepparton, the trip takes around 3 hours or less. Depends on how many stops it makes.

Here is the current list of where these Mooving Cows are situated. As the name implies Mooving Art, they do moove around the area! Even some that I took photos of are not on this list. Will put them up on Instagram.

*Couple of weekends ago I traveled to Shepparton with my housemate/friend Greg to visit his Mum and to play in a dart competition. The weekend before that I was in a huge dart competition that went over 3 days. Busy times along with mooving house in December ( 5 hour trip one way) Im hoping to publish at least a couple of posts a month from now on, fingers crossed!

  1. I think I’d be like Betty, stopping transfixed at big 3D fibreglass cows, though obviously without the barking! What an awesome idea and I love that they’re given eye-catching designs as a way to pay tribute to the dairy industry. I love things like this that are novel and quirky, a bit like the Shaun The Sheep instalments around Bristol. I’ve never been to Shepparton. I had to Google it – Greater Shepparton, is that outside of London? It’s strange it doesn’t easily come up on Google Maps.xx

  2. Love this mooving art! I live in an area with a high concentration of dairy farmers. Our town had a cow art exhibit a few years ago. So creative! Glad you are still able to travel, even if you are not able to go abroad.
