We did stop for lunch near Notre Dame. We chose crepes made with buckwheat. The actual crepe was ok but the filling was a little bit off. You can see Notre Damm from where we were sitting.

One very important word of advice when visiting France. Always greet them with Bonjour or Bon soir depending on what time of the day it is. Even if they greet you in English always reply in French.
