After 3 days of walking the streets of Paris we decided to get a 2 day pass on the hop on hop off bus in Paris.  On the Sunday night when we looked at the map of Paris, we had covered a lot of ground walking.  So what better way than see Paris by bus.

Our hotel was a 10 minute walk to the Avenue Des Champs-Elysee and the main bus the green hop on hop bus had a stop there. We would then change to the yellow bus which goes up near Montmartre and the Basque Due Sacre-Coeur.

On the double-decker bus we showed our tickets and we were given headphones.  There is commentary on all the buses pointing out the points of interest. Sometimes the commentary stopped and wasn’t in sync with what we were looking at so we decided to just look at the scenery.

Up the Avenue Des Champs Elyse around the Arc De Triomphe and turned down Avenue Kleber to the Trocadero.  This is where you can get really awesome pictures of the Eiffel Tower.

The bus gave us many angles in which to take photos of the Eiffel Tower.  We could have got off the bus here but as it was still only a few days after the failed Terrorist plot we didn’t think it was worth it. Plus we wanted to spend a few hours in Montmartre.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The green bus/line is the main line, then depending on where you wish to go in Paris you catch one of the other lines.  The L’OpenTour had 4 lines.  Green, Orange, Yellow and Blue. Today we were catching the green line to then take the yellow line to Sacre Coeur.   There are so many different busses operating it just depends what one you organise at your hotel.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We looked at the map that is provided and realized we went too far from our stop so we went round again.

 

 

It took us a while to get to our stop.  For anyone thinking of going to Montmartre on the hop on hop off bus its the stop just after Moulin Rouge. It was a lovely way to see Paris from the top of a double-decker bus.  Certainly after all the walking we had done in the past 3 days it was nice to sit and see the sights.

It was a bit cool up the top of the bus so I would recommend always having a scarf on hand.  I had mine draped over my shoulders so it stopped the wind chill going through the bones.
